FORTEe avatar-guided exercises for children and young people on Pixformance platform

On January 31st, 2025, all Pixformance users will be able to use the FORTEe exercises, therefore bringing engaging, avatar-guided workouts designed specifically for children and young adults to the innovative Pixformance training platform. The exercises, which were developed by the team at Oxford Brookes University, were created in close collaboration with the coordination team at the University Medical Center Mainz, which assisted with the design and selection. They combine state-of-the-art sensor technology with real-time feedback to enable safe and effective functional training.

The Pixformance training platform combines two key components: i) the Pixformance software; and ii) the patented station: a free-standing digital exercise device which uses advanced sensors to track 25 key joint points of the body within seconds. It provides precise, real-time feedback to ensure safe and effective movement executions. With over 500 functional exercises available, the training platform supports both individual and circuit training, making it a versatile tool for fitness and rehabilitation. The FORTEe avatar guides users through their movements, providing real-time feedback. Visual markers and emojis encourage them, making every session a game-like adventure.

FORTEe Get Strong App (no longer available)

The (formerly available) FORTEe – Get Strong App was a child-friendly game that provided young cancer patients with knowledge about health-conscious behaviour and was developed as part of the Europe-wide FORTEe study.

At a glance

Our FORTEe – Get Strong App included a FORTEe village in which children and young people could navigate their avatar and discover the FORTEe world. The village consisted of small houses, filled with numerous knowledge contents, exercises, games and fun facts. The games included information about health, physical activity, and nutrition, and provided information about the FORTEe study and the participating partners from different countries all over Europe.

Check out some videos about the (formerly available) app on the FORTEe YouTube channel!

The exercises covered the motor skills of endurance, strength, flexibility, coordination, and gait and were designed so that children, adolescents, and young adults could perform them safely despite their illness. In addition, patients could choose between different levels of difficulty so that the training could be adapted to their individual state of health.

At this point, the FORTEe Get Strong App is no longer available for download.
