“…children with cancer suffer long term effects of the disease and treatment which can disadvantage them for the rest of their lives. There is a clear need for long term rehabilitation, but we do not have the infrastructure for this in the UK. Hence, the FORTEe project not only tries to add to the evidence base for exercise interventions in paediatric oncology, but aims to establish tools and technologies can support this. It is the world’s largest study of its kind and we in Oxford are leading the technology related work package which investigates the application of new technologies in hospital and home settings. Part of this technology strand are the use of augmented reality, but also existing technologies such as Pixformance.”
